HR Manager

About our client: Our client is a global energy company focused on the acquisition and sustainable development of international oil and gas assets capable of returning free cash flow to shareholders.

Location: Groningen, Netherlands

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage all HR functions, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and fostering a high-performing workforce.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop a recruitment strategy and execute workforce plans that align employee size and skills with company needs.
  • Manage employee relations and compliance, including adherence to local regulations, and handling individual case management effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with the terms of the CLA, including salary scales, working hours, and other employment conditions.
  • Liaise with the Staff Council to address employee concerns, facilitate dialogue, and promote collaboration.
  • Liaise with unions, manage negotiations, resolve disputes, and ensure alignment with labor agreements.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction while building organizational capabilities and coaching leaders to improve effectiveness in engagement, leadership, and performance.
  • Foster a performance culture by developing leaders and attracting top industry talent.
  • Facilitate performance management processes to embed a strong performance culture and address underperformance issues.
  • Lead the strategic communications and corporate relations agenda, including social investment initiatives.
  • Supervise and manage direct reports, providing leadership and mentorship.
  • Manage payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory and legal obligations.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational
  • Psychology, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of proven HR leadership experience, particularly in HR business partnerships and offshore or industrial settings.
  • Strong ability to work across diverse cultures with a deep understanding of organizational navigation and effective collaboration.
  • Extensive experience in working with staff councils and unions, including in-depth knowledge of Dutch labor law and regulations.
    Proven track record in developing and implementing pragmatic and effective HR policies.
  • Commercial acumen with the ability to apply a value/risk lens to decision-making.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Skilled in coaching and mentoring subordinates while acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Fluency in Dutch and English.
